Rent the Insta360 X5 in Canada — the flagship 360 action camera that captures everything around you in 8K so you can point the “camera” wherever you like afterwards. With larger sensors, replaceable lenses and excellent stabilisation, it’s built for travel, action sports, POV and virtual-tour work. Key points:
8K30 360° video from two 1/1.28" sensors; PureVideo low-light mode and HDR
Single-lens (non-360) mode up to 4K60 with a 170° field of view; 5.7K120 Bullet Time
72MP 360° photos; FlowState stabilisation with 360° Horizon Lock
Replaceable lens guards; waterproof to 15m (60m with dive case); removable battery
Our thoughts
The X5 is the camera I recommend when you want to capture a moment without worrying about where to aim. Because it films everything around it in 360, you just shoot and then reframe later in the app — it’s brilliant for POV, action sports, travel and real-estate or virtual-tour work. The stabilisation is genuinely excellent, and the bigger sensors and PureVideo mode make a real difference in low light compared with older 360 cameras. The one thing to understand before you rent it is the workflow: this isn’t a grab-and-go flat-video camera. You shoot in 360, then reframe to standard video afterwards, and the final exported clip is roughly 4K-quality rather than full 8K. If you’re happy doing that bit of editing, it does things no normal camera can. If you just want to point and shoot, a regular action camera is simpler.

Q&A
No — that’s the point. The X5 captures everything around it at once, then you choose the angle afterwards in the Insta360 app or Studio software (this is called “reframing”). You can follow the action, do smooth pans, or pull out a normal-looking flat video from any direction. It does mean a short editing step after the shoot.
You shoot the full sphere in 8K, but once you reframe to a standard flat clip you’re using part of that sphere, so the exported video is roughly 4K-quality. That’s plenty for most uses — just don’t expect a reframed clip to be full 8K.
Yes — single-lens mode shoots straight-ahead video up to 4K60 with a wide 170° view, like a conventional action cam, with no reframing needed. You get the best of both: 360 capture when you want it, simple flat video when you don’t.
Yes — the X5 is waterproof to 15m (49') on its own, and to 60m (197') with the separately available Invisible Dive Case. Great for watersports, snorkelling and poolside shoots.
It uses a microSD card. Because 8K 360 video has a high data rate, use a fast, high-capacity card (V30 or better is recommended). We can add a suitable card to your order.
