Rent the Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM in Canada — Canon’s flagship wide-angle zoom and one of the most versatile lenses on the RF system. A constant f/2.8, image stabilisation and standard front filters make it a go-to for landscape, astro, interiors, weddings, events and wide-angle video. Key points:
Versatile 15-35mm wide-angle range with a bright, constant f/2.8 aperture
Optical IS up to 5 stops — unusual and welcome in a fast ultra-wide, great for handheld and video
Nano USM autofocus (quiet and smooth); assignable control ring; 0.28m close focus
Takes standard 82mm screw-in filters; L-series weather sealing
Our thoughts
This is the wide zoom I reach for most, because it does almost everything well. The constant f/2.8 makes it a strong performer for astro and dim interiors, the 15mm wide end is dramatic without going to extremes, and unlike a lot of fast ultra-wides it has image stabilisation — which, paired with f/2.8, makes it lovely for handheld video and run-and-gun. The other practical win is that it takes normal 82mm front filters, so polarisers and NDs are easy. If you need to go wider still, the RF 10-20mm f/4 reaches 10mm but it’s slower and can’t take front filters. For most people wanting one pro wide-angle that handles landscapes, weddings, real estate and video, this is the sweet spot.

Compatibility & what you might add
Fits any Canon RF-mount body — pair it with the camera that suits your shoot.
Need to go wider? Compare the Canon RF 10-20mm f/4 L (wider, but slower and no front filters).
It takes standard 82mm filters — add a polariser or ND for landscape and video.
Shooting astro or long exposures? A tripod is well worth adding.
Q&A
The 15-35mm is brighter (constant f/2.8 vs f/4), which helps in low light and astro, and it takes standard 82mm front filters. The 10-20mm goes significantly wider (10mm) for interiors and architecture, but it’s slower and has no front filter thread. Choose the 15-35mm for speed, filters and all-round use; the 10-20mm when you specifically need the extra width.
Yes — the constant f/2.8 aperture and 15mm wide end make it a strong choice for night skies, the Milky Way and dim interiors. Pair it with a tripod for long exposures and you’ll get excellent results.
Yes — it has a standard 82mm front filter thread, so polarisers, NDs and other screw-in filters fit easily (unlike some ultra-wides that only take rear gels). We can add filters to your order.
Very — the optical IS, fast f/2.8 aperture, quiet Nano USM focusing and wide field of view make it well suited to handheld video, vlogging and run-and-gun work. The control ring is handy for adjusting settings on the fly.
Down to 0.28m (about 0.9 ft), which is close enough for striking wide-angle close-ups where a nearby subject looms large against a wide background — a fun look for products and creative shots.
