The 45MP files are gorgeous, the autofocus is the best Canon has put in this line, and Eye Control AF is genuinely useful once it’s dialled in. It’s also a proper 8K video tool. The trade-offs are practical, not optical: the files are large, so plan for CFexpress Type B cards and plenty of storage, and it’s a step up in price. If you don’t need 8K or 45MP, the R6 Mark II or R6 Mark III will save you money and card space — but for top-end stills and video, this is our flagship."

8K and RAW recording require a CFexpress Type B card — UHS-II SD cards are fine for 4K and stills but won’t handle 8K/RAW. Add a CFexpress card to your order if you plan to shoot 8K, and allow for plenty of storage as the files are large.
The R5 Mark II leads on resolution (45MP) and offers internal 8K, making it ideal for big prints, heavy cropping and high-end productions. The R6 Mark II is a lighter, more affordable all-rounder; the R6 Mark III sits between them with a 32.5MP sensor and Open Gate 7K. Choose the R5 Mark II when you genuinely need the extra resolution.
Yes — with an EF–EOS R mount adapter, which we rent separately. EF and EF-S lenses then work natively, including autofocus and stabilisation. RF lenses mount directly with no adapter.
